Baer's 21 points lead Perrysburg girls in 66-48 district semifinal win over Lima Senior

FOSTORIA -- The Perrysburg girls basketball team defeated Lima Senior in a Division I district semifinal rematch 66-48 Thursday night behind 21 points from senior Sarah Baer.

Baer made her first four shots of the fourth quarter to spark a 12-2 Perrysburg run putting the game out of reach for Lima Senior. Junior Kayla Piezer had two fast break layups in that run.

The Yellow Jackets will play Notre Dame Academy in the district final at Lake High School on 3 p.m. Saturday.

Perrysburg defeated Lima Senior 79-64 in last year's district semifinal.

At buzzer-beating layup by Piezer pulled Perrysburg to within two at the half. Lima Senior led 28-26 with senior Indiya Benjamin leading all scorers with 12 at the break.

Benjamin had a 4-0 run herself after a layup, quick steal off the inbound pass, and ensuing layup. That sparked a 12-1 run by Lima Senior which included a 3-pointer from Caterrion Thompson, and three-point play from Benjamin.
