Worms on hooks overtook Three Meadows Pond in Perrysburg today as families ventured out in the sunshine to hook some fish at the Perrysburg Fishing Derby.

Stocked through the Summer Recreation program, the pond was teaming with native species of large-mouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill.

While some relaxed and lazily cast their lines, other contestants were on a mission. Katie McGivern, the younger sister of Sean McGivern, three-time champ for catching the most fish at the annual derby, had already hooked her 57th fish by mid-morning.

When asked if Sean had taught his sister everything he knew, he answered, nodding, "Seems to be working."

Participants could get their fish measured before releasing them back into the pond. Poles were provided for attendees.
