Gift of Gab: A Love Letter to the Detroit Tigers

I have the dubious honor of living in Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland's hometown, I always tell people when I describe where I live.

It's the thing I like best about being in Perrysburg.

I looked at Mr. Leyland, somebody with so much sass and swagger – a guy who is full of the best one-liners for reporters' stupid questions and unabashedly smokes in the ballpark and takes the fine, not caring at all. How could he come out of Perrysburg, a city that reeks of charm and sweetness in its little downtown?
