Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble to perform in Perrysburg

CITY OF PERRYSBURG

The Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble is comprised of 40 professional musicians under the direction of Lieutenant Patrick Sweeten.

The ensemble continues the legacy of bandmaster Lieutenant John Philip Sousa, spreading the traditional sounds of military music throughout the Midwest. In addition to providing an array of traditional marches, the WindEnsemble presents a broad assortment of patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions, vocal arrangements, and modern wind band repertoire as an icon of America’s band.

This unit performs throughout the Midwest for the celebration of National Holidays, community concerts, and educational institutions. The Wind Ensemble strives to preserve the great musical traditions of our country by performing for and with high school and college students in the local area.

The band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23 at Commodore Park.
