Football, wine, dog walk among weekend of Perrysburg activities

BLADE STAFF

Here’s a handy guide to fun happenings in the community this weekend.

Perrysburg residents have until today to take advantage of discounted bench seat football tickets for the home opener Saturday at Bowling Green State University.

If people buy tickets before the day of the game — and show ID — they can get tickets for $8, thanks to a special Perrysburg Night promotion.

At Levis Commons, a wine and appetizer night is raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio.

The event, which costs $30 a person, runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today.

The summer tradition of First Friday in downtown Perrysburg is canceled today due to impending weather. September’s theme was animals.

The free family-friendly event features a clown, the YMCA Fun Bus, a petting zoo, and an animal talent show. Cost to showcase your pet’s skills is $5 with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds go to Barks for Life. Downtown Perrysburg Inc. is also sponsoring its annual sidewalk sale, which runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Following the animal theme, the American Cancer Society is hosting a one-mile walk and festival to raise money to fight cancer.

The entry fee is $10 per dog, with $5 for each additional canine, when “Red, White and Bark For Life” kicks off 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Fort Meigs, 29100 W. River Rd. The event is scheduled rain or shine.
