Soloists steal the spotlight now and then, but partnerships can result in a full range of musical expression.
The Owens College Community Band and the Toledo School for the Arts Studio Winds will present a free concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Theater of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts on Owens’ Perrysburg Township campus.
Selections will include “American Salute,” “New York: 1927,” “In the Mood,” and songs from Jersey Boys and Star Trek.
If you'd like to enjoy a meal while you listen to some music, the following Perrysburg restaurants can oblige in the evenings:
Stella's Restaurant and Bar, 104 Louisiana Ave., Meaghan Roberts on Friday and Acoustic Soul on Saturday.
Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., Andrew Ellis and the Setting Sons on Friday.
Holiday Inn French Quarter, 10630 State Rt. 20, Double Dare on Friday and Saturday.
If a dinner out doesn't split your sides, there's a fella coming to the Funny Bone Comedy Club who is likely to do it.
Pauly Shore literally was born into comedy, to parents in the industry, and he began his stand-up comic career at 17. He hosted the MTV show Totally Pauly in the late 1980s and early '90s, and starred in the film Encino Man and his mockumentary Pauly Shore is Dead. See video on Funny Bone's Web site.
Shore will perform for the 21-and-older crowd at the club inside Fat Fish Blue at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $27.
