Around Halloween, children often see decorations, costumes, and other spooky images of spiders, bats, snakes, and owls. But these creatures are really not so scary, according to the Wood County Park District.
Children and their families were invited Thursday for a short hike through W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg to look for such insects, reptiles, and winged mammals and birds.
Back at the Knight Nature Center, craft time offered a chance to make an owl mask or a snake bracelet.
