Children's Art Show at Owens features work of young children

BLADE STAFF

The eighth annual Children’s Art Show will feature masterpieces created by children attending Owens' Child Care Center on the Perrysburg Township campus.

Artists ages 4 months to 5 years old created sculptures, paintings, drawings, and self-portraits.

The artwork will be on display through Nov. 7 in Owens’ Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery, which is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. An opening reception was held Friday.

The Children's Art Show was inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, which child care instructors use in their art curriculum. Children’s interests are the basis for the artistic creations, and favorite books were a prime source of inspiration.
