If you have some money just itching to be spent, there are some great places to do it this weekend that will put some much-needed cash into the coffers of area organizations.
A silent wreath auction begins today at the Waterford at Levis Commons independent and assisted living community to benefit Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio.
Since 2007, the nonprofit chapter of the Honor Flight Network has flown nearly 1,400 veterans to Washington to view the memorials built in their honor. The free one-day trip includes transportation to and from Washington, bus service to the memorials, and all meals and beverages throughout the day.
Wreaths were donated by area businesses and will be on display and open for bids until Dec. 14 at the Waterford, 7100 S. Wilkinson Way, which will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winning bidders will be notified by Dec. 17, and wreaths must be collected by Dec. 21.
For information, call the Waterford at 419-874-2564.
A C-note and sugar-free sweet tooth are all you need for the 7th annual Sweet Success Gala to benefit Diabetes Youth Services, to be held Friday at Hilton Garden Inn, Perrysburg. A cute cocktail dress may be in order as well.
Admission is $100 at the door, 6165 Levis Commons Blvd. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and silent auction bidding. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m., with programming beginning at 8:15 p.m. that includes a live auction and Fund-A-Camper drive.
The Sweet Success Gala helps to fund educational services for more than 3,000 children in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan living with type 1 diabetes, according to a news release.
The mission of Diabetes Youth Services is to teach children how to manage their diabetes and live healthy, confident and independent lives. Since 1984, it has offered programs funded solely by donations from the community, from summer camps to family programing and school support programs.
Waterford Bank, which recently opened a branch in Perrysburg, is sponsoring the event. For information, contact Sherry Gibson of Diabetes Youth Services at email@example.com.
