Owens to host Chili Cook-Off fund-raiser

A Chili Cook-Off fund-raising event is set for 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Owens Community College.

The event, run by Owens students, is open to the public in the college’s Student Health and Activities Center on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. Attendees will receive a tasting kit to sample the assortment of chili selections.

A $3 donation is suggested. Proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sample an assortment of chili from various Owens teams and then vote for the favorite edible delight. The team which receives the most votes will become the event’s people’s choice winner and the chili will be sold at the college’s Fireside Grill as part of a collaborative effort between the Office of Student Activities and AVI Foodsystems.
