Fort Meigs to celebrate 200th anniversary
War of 1812 re-enactors will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Fort Meigs on Saturday.
The winter encampment will re-create what life was like as Fort Meigs was constructed. Visitors will witness drill and weapons demonstrations from the time period and see dozens of artifacts.
Highlights will include tent tours, period cooking and construction demonstrations, and building activities. Indoor activities include carpentry and skilled trades, period sewing, spinning and weaving, and rope making.
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fort Meigs. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $4 for students. Children age 5 and younger are admitted free. For more information visit fortmeigs.org.
