Clark Ausloos is excited to direct a play that he performed in when he was was his first play in third grade and was the first play he was featured in professionally.
The Perrysburg Musical Theatre is presenting Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this summer. Auditions took place this weekend at Next Stage Studios.
"It is challenging," Mr. Ausloos said of auditions. "You have a short time, a minute and a half, to analyze and see potential, or lack of potential in people."
There will be 20 cast members, but also a children's ensemble of 40 to 50 and an adult ensemble of about 30. There will be three 7 p.m. performances June 20-22 and a performance June 23 at 2 p.m., all at Perrysburg High School.
The story is the biblical tale of Joseph, who is his father's favorite. His jealous brothers sell him as a slave and sends him to Egypt.
"It is a biblical story, but it is very universal," Mr. Ausloos said. "The music is wonderful."
While he said he is always a bit nervous for auditions, he thinks he will find good actors.
"I'm pretty confident in this area, specifically Perrysburg," Mr. Ausloos said. "Arts and music are thriving here."
