Levis Commons is a focal point of Perrysburg events this weekend, highlighted by its summer sand festival.
At the Funny Bone Comedy Club: Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., comedian Bob Zany has shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday; at 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Zany is a stand-up comedian who has had a few movie roles, including in Joe Dirt, and The Informant.
Friday evening, O-Deer Diner and Ice Cream hosts a car cruise on the Commodore Schoolyard area, across the street from the restaurant. The event had more than 80 cars registered. Records from the 1950s and 1960s will be played and a 50/50 drawing held to benefit the Perrysburg High School after-prom committee.
Rave Cinemas at Levis Commons show the just-released White House Down (PG-13) as well as The Heat, with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. The theaters are in Levis Commons at 2005 Hollenbeck Drive Town Center.
The Quixotic band will play at the Holiday Inn French Quarter's bar J. Patrick's Pub from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
Levis Commons has its two-day summer festival called Sand-Tastic, from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Both days will have chalk artists and sand sculptors creating their pieces of art along the boulevard in outdoor shopping center. There will be community sandboxes and water tables for children to play in both day. Insync DJ Services will play music from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be an amateur sand-sculpting contest at 7 p.m. Saturday. Also on Saturday, there will be a celebrity dunk tank from 3 to 6 p.m., caricature artist from 5 to 7 p.m., hot air balloon rides from 5 to 7 p.m. and live music from the Toledo School for the Arts Steel Drum band from 5 to 8 p.m. Also both nights will have horse-drawn carriage rides available.
