First Friday, car cruise highlight Perrysburg weekend events


As the Fourth of July weekend is upon us including barbecues, swimming and cookouts. It also rings in July's First Friday event in downtown Perrysburg.


At the Funny Bone Comedy Club: Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., comedian Steve Trevino has shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday; at 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Trevino started in comedy by telling jokes in his 2nd grade talent show. He lives in Hollywood.


On Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., weather permitting, O-Deer Diner and Ice Cream will host a car cruise on the Commodore Schoolyard area, across the street from the restaurant. Records from the 1950s and 1960s will be played and a 50/50 drawing will held to benefit the Perrysburg High School after-prom committee. There are also door prizes rewarded to people who have their vehicles registered.


The second First Friday event of the season will be take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Perrysburg. Dave Carpenter and his acoustic guitar, playing a Dave Matthew's Band vibe, will perform. Also, Chortie the Clown, YMCA Fun Bus full of children's activities and face painting, family fun-house, children's miniature train, a bubble machine, and the Perrysburg Fire Department displays will be among the activities. There will also be 14 vendors selling hand-made jewelry, food, and quilts. 


Rave Cinemas at Levis Commons show just-released Lone Ranger and Despicable Me 2 movies.


The Eight Fifteens four-person rock-and-roll band will play at the Holiday Inn French Quarter's bar J. Patrick's Pub from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Meaghan Roberts will play at Swig's restaurant in downtown Perrysburg Friday night and Tom Turner will be there Saturday.
