Eight or nine years ago, a few fathers of Perrysburg Junior High School band members got talking at their children's functions and decided to get together and jam out themselves.

The band Suburban Legend was born when Jeff Kerscher, Lance Craig, and Paul Cummings assembled. With the additions of friends Steve Edwards and Jim Siebold, it made a complete band of five Perrysburg businessmen.

Suburban Legend will play for the Music at the Market at 7 p.m. today for 90 minutes at the Commodore Schoolyard. If there's rain, it will move to the Commodore Building's theater.

The band specializes in classic rock. Mr. Kerscher said some music they play includes songs from the Eagles, Journey, and the Beatles.

"The band is more than a hometown bunch of white collar wanna-be rock and rollers," said Robin Ballmer, concert director. "The band is composed of seasoned and dedicated musicians who work hard to present a great show."

Mr. Craig is lead guitar and vocals, Mr. Cummings is on guitar, congas, and vocals, Mr. Kerscher is on keyboard and vocals, and Mr. Seibold is on drums. Mr. Edwards, usually on bass, can't make today's show and will be replaced for this show.

"We're going to do more party music that is up-tempo and fun for the summertime," Mr. Kerscher said.

Next week is the last week of the Music at the Market series, featuring Nine Lives, another Perrysburg band.
