The City of Perrysburg has been in existence since 1816 and through the years its citizens have been an integral part of a thriving northwest Ohio, nation, and world.
From a small group of pioneers that settled on the “flats” called Orleans, Perrysburg has grown into a city of over 20,000 people that reflects the values of our founders. Hard work, perseverance, commitment, and a sense of community that drives us to be the best by taking responsibility when needs arise, has resulted in one of Family Circles “Ten best places to raise a family.”
Perrysburg has also been named one of Ohio’s best hometowns and has a Preserve America designation.
The Blade has given the City of Perrysburg and its citizens, new and old, another medium to showcase our successes and undertakings. Everyone will be able to share pictures, events, stories, and any other information of value with the Perrysburg community and its neighbors on a Web page called OurTownPerrysburg.com.
The City offices will use the new site as an additional source besides our Web site (www.ci.perrysburg.oh.us) to update you about goings on in City Hall and the delivery of services as well as reviewing it for ideas or events that may affect our delivery of services to the public.
The “mayor” will even do monthly messages to give readers insight into his thoughts about “happenings and plans for the future.”
I hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity to bring focus on the great traditions and fabric of our Perrysburg community. Whether its schools, business, service organizations, or the arts, we have much to offer.
The Act of Congress that established the platting of the City in 1816 gave us a very unique beginning and a rich history. I’d like to see us add to that with a rich and successful future.
