City truck takes out light post

BY BLADE STAFF

Dog walkers and jog walkers who visit the popular Woodlands Park might have noticed something out of place during the past few days.

A Perrysburg city employee was driving a street division truck on the gravel pathway when he backed into a city light post and knocked it over onto the grass, according to a police report released today.

Police reported there was “light damage” on the back of the 1997 GMC truck.

The driver was Justin Mickels, 31, of Perrysburg, according to the report. The incident was reported at about 10:14 a.m. Friday in the park, located at the corner of East Boundary Street and East Indiana Avenue.

As of this afternoon, the pole still had not been replaced. Public Service Director Jon Eckel could not be reached for comment today.
