Next Stage Studios in Perrysburg will have two professional actors at its three-week acting camp in August.

The camp, Broadway Bound, is in its fourth year. It will be held from Aug. 5 to Aug. 24 for children from 6 to 18.

Alan Muraoka from Sesame Street will be at the camp to help in the third week. Also at the camp, in the second week, will be Hayley Podschun, who is currently traveling and performing in the play Wicked which will be at the Stranahan Theater in August.

Clark Ausloos, owner and instructor at Next Stage, said he was lucky to get professional actors to come, pulling it off through friendships he built in New York City when he was on Broadway.

"Alan has worked in the industry for a long time and knows the music theater," Mr. Ausloos said. "He's currently on an Ameritrade commercial that is played all the time. He can work with the kids that may not like the spotlight but could do things behind the scenes like directing too."

Mr. Muraoka plays Alan, the owner of Hooper's Store, on Sesame Street.

Ms. Podschun was in the John Travolta movie called Hairspray and has spent years on Broadway with different shows.

"I'm coming to do dance," Ms. Podschun said. "I did Hairspray on Broadway and I hope I can teach them the dance and learn the choreography of it. I love working with kids, their willingness to learn inspires me."

The camp will be divided into two age groups. The first is for ages 6 to 9. They will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Thursday. Their camp costs $225. The second group is ages 10 to 18, with sessions Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Their camp costs $295. Friday's will have a work session for both groups from 9 a.m. to noon.

Registration deadline is July 25, at 419-873-5838 or www.nextstagestudios.com.  There will be a public showcase of what they learned 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Maumee Indoor Theatre.

"Our main focus is to get kids exposure to musical theater with the intensive three-week camp," Mr. Ausloos said. "We'll have a variety of different materials so they can hone in their skills in a certain area."
