There’s a happy ending for at least one of the kittens born under the deck of a vacant house for sale in Perrysburg.
The reluctant neighbor, Bernie Weis, a 78-year-old admitted dog person, returned to the animal hospital today and adopted a black-and-white kitten, said South Suburban Animal Hospital receptionist Lauren Payton.
The other six kittens – Perrysburg Animal Control Officer Jeff Studer found an additional kitten – were all safely trapped and taken out from the deck to hopefully find new homes.
Mr. Weis reported the kittens to Perrysburg police after the mother cat was killed on Roachton Road. The hungry kittens crept out into his yard, looking for food, then returned to their refuge under the deck.
“They’re all friendly, roly-poly kittens,” Officer Studer said today.
The kittens can be adopted for free by contacting South Suburban Animal Hospital, 5100 Brockway Dr., at 419-872-0920.
