Traffic blitz on major roads this weekend in Perrysburg Township

BLADE STAFF

Perrysburg Township police department's latest traffic enforcement blitz will cover a time period during which massive amounts of pizza, chili, potato chips, chicken wings, and beer (and other alcohol) typically are consumed.

Lt. Jim Pellek with the township police department notes that the blitz will include the upcoming Super Bowl weekend.

Perrysburg Township has received grant funding from the Ohio Department of Public Safety/Governor's Highway Safety Office in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to conduct selective traffic enforcement within the township.

Starting Friday and ending Monday, township police officers will be targeting U.S. 20; state routes 25, 795, and 65, and Oregon Road.

Officers will be working additional hours, funded by the grant, to look for impaired drivers, enforce traffic safety laws, and monitor speed and seat belt violations.

The grant period runs through this September.
