Wood County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Thompson was hit by a swinging arm from a man in Perrysburg Heights Saturday.

It took place in the community center where a man was at a function he was not invited to, authorities said. The hit took place when Deputy Thompson was escorting the man outside.

Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said today that the deputy's report said the hit was not intentional. The sheriff said right now they do not know who the man was since he fled.

Deputy Thompson was not injured.

The man fled the scene and took off into Perrysburg Heights. The Perrysburg police were notified and told to make a perimeter around Perrysburg Heights.

Sheriff Wasylyshyn said at most the man who hit the deputy would be charged with disorderly conduct since it was not intentional.

"The guy was still in the wrong, but he won't be charged with assaulting an officer," Sheriff Wasylyshyn said.
