Ill coyote put down by Perrysburg police

An ill, three-legged coyote was put down by the Perrysburg Police this week when it was found in the 25000 block of Seminary Road.

Perrysburg Police Deputy Chief Michael Gilmore said coyotes are prevalent in the area because of the Maumee River, and the wooded area is great for the coyotes. This incident was on Monday.

"They are around," Deputy Chief Gilmore said.

"They are not a huge problem though. If you look at the circle of life they can get varmints. You could have a bird feeder and some falls on the ground, other animals get to it and the coyotes come. Our town is very close to nature and we do have some issues."
