Perrysburg Township Fire Department considers 2 replacement levies

Perrysburg Township Fire Department is looking ahead at putting two replacement levies on the ballot in May.

Considered is a 1-mill levy that would generate $439,933.67 that would cost the owner of a $100,000 house about $35 a year. A 2-mill levy would generate $871,867.51 for the department and cost $70 for a $100,000 home.

Township Fire Chief Tom Brice said both of the levies have been renewed every four years since the mid-to-late 1990s.

"These are extremely important," Chief Brice said. "WIthout these levies we won't be able to continue and maintain the operations we do now."

He also said he is very appreciative of the voter's support for the department in renewing the levies in the past.
