Organizers are planning a one-mile race later this summer to recoup money that was stolen from two Perrysburg school groups.
Toth Parents’ Club and the Perrysburg Elementary Parents’ Association are sponsoring the one-mile race/walk from 8 a.m. to noon, Aug. 25. The event starts at the Commodore Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave. in Perrysburg.
News anchor Jeff Smith from television Channel 13 will be the master of ceremonies.
The woman whom authorities accused of stealing up to $140,000 from several Perrysburg groups pleaded not guilty this month in Wood County Common Pleas Court. The money was reported missing this year.
Authorities alleged Kiki Lorann, 35, stole from the parents’ association, the Toth group, as well as the Perrysburg Sting Baseball Team over three years. The prosecution said an investigation is still ongoing to find more victims.
Ms. Lorann is charged with three counts of grand theft and one count of simple theft.
To enter the race, the fee is $10 per person or $50 for a family of five and up. Registration starts from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with the race kicking off at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Fifth and Elm streets.
