Perrysburg orchestra students participate in OMEA honors orchestra

Twenty-two members of the Perrysburg High School Orchestra participated in the OMEA District One honors orchestra. Twenty-two members of the Perrysburg High School Orchestra participated in the OMEA District One honors orchestra.

Members of the Perrysburg High School orchestra recently participated in the Ohio Music Education Association District One Honors orchestra.

The concert, on Jan. 20, was part of the association's High School Honors Music Festival for District One, which includes Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Williams, and Wood counties.

The Stranahan Theatre concert featured 22 students from Perrysburg who had previously auditioned to be part of the orchestra. The orchestra, under the direction of March Sholl of Hilliard Division Schools, performed "Rackoczy March" by List, "Andante Festivo" by Sibelius, "Suite for Strings" by Rutter and "Cook It Hot or Get Out of The Kitchen" by Patterson.

The high school's next orchestra concert will be Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at Perrysburg High School.

The Perrysburg students who participated are:

Violins: Henry Yang, Robby Warton, Madison Humphrey, Rayat Ahmed, Jordyn Bird, Fiona Smith, Olivia Lahey, Joseph Park, Evan Cygnor, and Mackenzie Williams.

Violas: Rebekah Meyers (principal chair) and Chris Klammer

Cellos: Sarah Smith (principal chair) Huan Liang, Sammy Neiswander, Eunice Park, andAlexandra Phlegar

Bass: Ryan Smith, Stephen Wolf, Adam Behrendt, Alex Klosyter, and Domenick Horvat

In addition, three orchestra students are going to participate in the OMEA All State Orchestra on Wednesday through Saturday in Columbus. They are Rebekah Meyers, viola - 12th grade; Sarah Smith, cello - 12th grade; and Henry Yang, violin, 10th grade.
