BGSU Men’s Chorus to perform at First United Methodist

The Bowling Green State University Men’s Chorus will present a concert of sacred and secular music at First United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.

The 70-voice touring chorus is conducted by Timothy Cloeter.

The varied concert program spans from classical music to African folkdance, from Britten to barbershop,and from German part-songs to spirituals. Concert highlights will include Britten’s “The Ballad of Little Musgrave,” Schubert’s “Die Nacht,” Gjeilo’s “Ubi Caritas et Amor,” Cobb’s “And Draw Her Home with Music,” “Kpanlongo” with African percussion, motets by Tallis and Handl, and the spirituals “Go Down, Moses” and “Plenty Good Room” by Moses Hogan.

The BGSU Men’s Chorus has a long-standing tradition of excellence and has the honor of performing with distinction at regional and national choral and music education conferences. The chorus is an auditioned ensemble open to all male students at BGSU and it includes students from a wide variety of majors.

The concert is free and is part of the music outreach program of the church. A goodwill offering will be taken.

The First United Methodist music series is funded in part by the Perse Memorial Fund.
