Perrysburg High School senior Abdur Rafey Khan has been named a finalist in the Johnson Scholarship competition at Washington and Lee University.

He will visit the Lexington, Va., school  for three days beginning March 3 for an opportunity to win the scholarship.

“We are very proud of Abdur,” school Principal Michael Short said. “He is a terrific student and a dedicated learner. We wish him the best of luck at this competition.”

After a review of applications, the Scholarship Committee selected a pool of 200 finalists to invite to an on-campus competition.  The finalists' interviews with faculty, current Johnson Scholars, and admissions will determine the scholarship's recipient.

Once on campus, Abdur and the other finalists will stay in residence halls with current students, and attend a full schedule of events including classes, receptions, open houses, tours, and meals both on campus and in town.

Abdur Rafey Khan also has received a full-ride scholarship to Washington and Lee University.
