Perrysburg School receive Auditor of State award

BLADE STAFF

Perrysburg Schools received an Auditor of State Award, one of just 11 school districts in the state, for having clean audit reports.

District Treasurer Matt Feasel was presented the award last week, along with Board of Education President Gretchen Downs.

"It is a nice award. It is not about me but everyone in the district following procedures and guidelines," Mr. Feasel said. "On behalf of the district, it is a nice honor."

Mr. Feasel said that usually good audits go unnoticed. It is nice to get some recognition so that the community knows everything on the books is in order, he said.

To receive the award, a school district must have meet each of these criteria: file timely financial reports; audit does not contain citations, material weakness, significant deficiencies, or questioned costs; there's no ethical referrals, reconciliations, failure to obtain timely single audit, or findings for recovery less than $100; and the audit shows public meetings.

"I'm proud of the district," Mr. Feasel said. "We have things accounted for financially, and going down the right path. We'll continue to provide accountability that this community expects."
