Perrysburg High School prom, located almost across the street on Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Levis Commons, will be one of the most highly attended for the school.
Tickets have been purchased by 564 students.
Formal attire, dinner, and dancing will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. as the Perrysburg High School senior class goes out in style.
"I think for the seniors it is bringing a special, formal closure to school, where they can take pictures and hopefully have positive memories from the special setting and first formal activity," said Principal Mike Short. "We're trying to make sure prom is a memorable night."
Parents are running an after-prom event at the high school from about 11:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. where there are inflatables, karaoke, a magician, games, and food.
It provides a safe and fun environment for the students after the prom, Mr. Short said. With parents running it, students tend to behave better around their parents or their friends' parents, the principal said.
It isn't all fun for everyone when it comes to dances.
"I don't like dances because I have to look at (students) in the worst light to think if they are drunk, high, or acting inappropriately in a free-for-all setting," Mr. Short said. "But prom rarely ever disappoints me; typically the students respond very well."
