The students of Fort Meigs Elementary School in Perrysburg recently participated in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart program. This annual fund-raiser is tied into the student's Physical Education classes.

According to Fort Meigs PE Teacher Doug Kollman: "This is a great program that involves individual and team skill development, personal fitness and nutrition. Plus, the fundraising work the students do makes a huge difference in people's lives. It's a great cause."

This year's fundraiser lasted 10 days and brought in an "amazing" $14,367.17, bringing Fort Meigs' nine-year total to $90,343.66.
