Local charity to help children with cancer settles in downtown Perrysburg

BY JANEE CARPENTER

The Elias Adin’s Comforting Hearts, Inc. charity was founded by Kele Pallitta and family who lost its seven-month-old son, Elias Adin, to a cancerous brain tumor in 2008.

In memory of their son, the Pallitta family has turned tragedy into triumph. The charity provides care packages to children in the oncology units at Mercy Children’s Hospital and ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital.

Care packages are also delivered to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Additionally, efforts are underway to start an annual scholarship fund for local medical students.

Elias Adin’s Comforting Hearts, Inc. has recently moved out of their founders home to an office in downtown Perrysburg at the Commodore Way building.

In the last 8 months since starting the charity, over 83 care packages have been given to children with cancer.

The charity also is preparing for its third event to raise money to help comfort kids with cancer. In the past 3 months they have had a 5K obstacle course race at Maumee Bay State Park and participated in a Most Eligible Bachelor/Bachelorette Date Auction at the Blarney Bull Pen.

Their next event will be held in the heart of Perrysburg, for the first ever Amazing Race Perrysburg.

For information on how to help or to find information about upcoming events, visit www.comfort-hearts.com or call 419-819-8065.

All proceeds will benefit Elias Adin’s Comforting Hearts, Inc.
