Students organize 5K Race/Walk to benefit No Kid Hungry program
A 5K Race/Walk and 1K Kids Fun Run to benefit the No Kid Hungry® campaign will take place on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at Monclova Elementary School, 8085 Monclova Rd., in Monclova Township.
The event is organized by students in the Penta Career Center-Anthony Wayne Teaching Professions program.
The entry fee is $20, which includes a T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners in each age group and to the overall top runners. Major sponsors of the event are ProMedica/St. Luke’s Hospital, Dave’s Running, and the Toledo Roadrunners.
Entry forms are available at Anthony Wayne High School, Dave’s Running in Perrysburg (or www.davesrunning.com), and through the Toledo Roadrunners. All entry forms can be dropped off or mailed to: Anthony Wayne High School, No Kid Hungry 5K, 5967 Finzel Road, Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. Online registration is available, with a service fee, at imathlete.com.
On the day of the race, Toledo Seagate Foodbank will collect non-perishable food items. Fruit, water, and other snacks will be provided to race participants. Dr. Schwanz, of Waterville Chiropractic Clinic, will offer free health care screenings. A DJ will provide entertainment.
This event is being held to support the Share Our Strength’s Foundation, No Kid Hungry® campaign, a national effort to end childhood hunger in America.
