A Toledo man accused of leading Lake Township police on a chase on I-280 and onto the Ohio Turnpike is slated to appear in court Thursday on multiple charges, authorities said.

Gregory Baldwin, 36, of 1457 N. Huron St. was released Wednesday from the Wood County jail after posting a $20,000 bond on drug-related charges and a $500 bond on an earlier unrelated misdemeanor charge, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Office. He appeared earlier in the day in Perrysburg Municipal Court on drug abuse and drug trafficking charges, as well as a failure to comply charge, according to court records.

He was arrested about 3:05 p.m. Tuesday when police said he crashed his vehicle into a ditch off the turnpike after leading Lake Township police on a chase that started on southbound I-280 near the Perrysburg exit in the township.

The chase started when the driver refused to step out of his vehicle during a routine traffic stop, police said.
