Description: Perrysburg will come alive with the excitement of ice carvings and winter weather fun this February. Downtown Perrysburg, Inc. (DPI, along with the Town Center at Levis Commons, is proud to present Perrysburg Winterfest 2015, a National Ice Carving Association (NICA) sanctioned event on Friday, February 20 through Sunday, February 22.

The highlight of the weekend will be the US National Ice Carving Championship. Twenty first-class master and professional ice carvers will compete for $15,000 of prize money and the 2015 national title. The community is invited to witness the technical and creative expertise of the professional ice carvers as they perform their art live on Friday at The Town Center at Levis Commons and Saturday in Downtown Perrysburg.

To complement the ice carving competition, there will be numerous ice carvings commissioned by area businesses and organizations on display throughout the weekend. From dramatic artsy pieces, to fun and whimsical and fully functional sculptures, the commissioned pieces are a great way for local businesses to get involved in Winterfest. The finished ice sculptures as well as the 50+ additional commissioned ice carvings will be on display through Sunday in both Perrysburg locations.

There are several events and activities that will take place during the Winterfest weekend. On Friday, February 20 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. a ticketed Beer Tasting presented by Owens Illinois Inc., will offer attendees a chance to sample Old World and New World craft beers as they enjoy live music by “The Bradberries”. On Saturday, February 21, a Wine Tasting featuring an impressive selection of wine from around the country will be paired with samplings from the area’s best chefs. Both events will take place in Downtown Perrysburg on the corner of Second Street and Louisiana Avenue. Tickets range in price from $30 to $50 and can be purchased by visiting www.perrysburgwinterfest.org.

In addition to the ice carvings which will be on display throughout the weekend, a variety of winter weather and children’s activities will take place at both the Downtown Perrysburg and Levis Commons locations. From crafts and princess appearances to story times and scavenger hunts, there will be no shortage of fun for the entire family all weekend long. Perrysburg Musical Theatre is having an Audition Workshop in preparation of our 5th Anniversary show, Shrek the Musical. WE ENCOURAGE ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING TO HAVE A NAMED ROLE IN THE PRODUCTION TO ATTEND, INCLUDING ADULTS.
“SHREK, The Musical” is an extremely character-driven show. We have decided to have an Audition Workshop because in order to properly cast the show, we need to see people who are willing to take risks and really embody a character during their audition. During the workshop you’ll be working with the whole Creative Team on material from the show and you’ll get a chance to see what we are looking for with each character. You will also learn some tips to really make yourself stand out during auditions.
