GTFC Impact Clothing Drive

Description: Look for the Easter Seals truck in the south parking lot. We will be collecting clothes, coats, hats, gloves, bedding, purses, book bags, linens, curtains, shoes, and any other items made of leather of cloth. Easter Seals will donate $0.20 to GTFC Impact for every pound donated...which can add up quickly! Christ the King completed a drive and collected 10,000 lbs. of donations which raised $2,000. All proceeds to go toward scholarships.

Perez Concert at Zoar Lutheran Perrysburg

Description: Sonia Perez, soprano, will perform an evening of music “A Journey of the Heart” on Friday, April 24 at 7:00pm. She will be accompanied at the piano by her husband and collaborator, Omaldo Perez. The program will feature music by Poulenc, Schumann, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, Ravel and others. The concert will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church, on the corner of Sandusky and Indiana Avenues, Perrysburg.

The couple has performed together in numerous concerts spanning the genres of musical theatre, opera, art song and jazz. Ms. Perez is a New York native and has performed throughout New York City as a soloist, most notably, in Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space, The Brooklyn Museum and American Airlines Theatre. She has also performed as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra.
In December, she had the pleasure of performing the role of the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Perrysburg Symphony at Zoar. She premiered the leading roles of Heron, Raven and Eagle in the operatic trilogy Our Earth with Seattle Opera. She has also performed in national tours of Carmen and H.M.S. Pinafore and internationally in Phantom of the Opera. Most recently, Sonia performed with Musicals Tonight in the off-Broadway revival of Jule Styne’s Hazel Flagg, a vintage comedy musical based on a 1953 story written by James Street.

The concert is free to the public, with a reception following in the Family Life Center.

Description: OhioMeansJobs.com, the state’s premier resume and job bank, is hosting a career fair from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 28 at Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Road, Perrysburg.

The event will begin with a morning session for employers, career counselors and workforce professionals. Speakers will present information about regional workforce trends, as well as information about how OhioMeansJobs.com can benefit employers.

Job seekers are invited to attend in the afternoon. They can meet with employers who are hiring and attend workshops on resume writing, interviewing and more. Although walk-ins are welcome, both job seekers and employers can register for the fair by going to OhioMeansJobs.com and clicking on the “OMJ Career Fairs” icon.

“We invite all Toledo area job seekers to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Cynthia C. Dungey, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. “They can bring their resumes, network with potential employers and learn how to make their job searches more successful. Admission is free, and all are welcome.”

OhioMeansJobs.com was recently expanded into a full-fledged career and employment center. On any given day, it lists tens of thousands of job openings, in addition to many new features. These include a resume builder and rater, a budget calculator, skill and interest assessments, and online tutorials. Users can access the site from their home, office, school, library, military base or any other Internet-connected location or device.

Perrysburg 4th Annual Walk for Williams Syndrome

Description: Williams Syndrome (WS) is a rare genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone. It presents lifelong medical, cognitive and behavioral challenges. The Williams Syndrome Association (WSA) is the most comprehensive resource for people and families with Williams Syndrome. The walk promotes awareness and raises funds for the WSA. Approximately, 300 people attended the event last year (30 with WS) and raised over $15,000. The event includes the walk, lunch, family activities and entertainment, raffles and a silent auction.
